This volume addresses the theme of inequality and includes critical readings in classic and contemporary works. Chapters explore literary representations  of social and economic inequality, including those which address multiple vectors of social marginalization; consider authors' strategies for compelling readers'  attention to these political issues; and engage with questions of aesthetics, canon formation and literary value.
